Derby's Top Performing Senior School
Here at Derby High we are very proud of the first class education we offer (examination results are available here), laying the foundations for success and an excitement for learning. We want to ensure all our pupils leave us as assured, adaptable, pioneering individuals, ready to make their mark on the world and lead happy, successful lives. We strive for high academic achievement but we also encourage our students to look beyond the classroom by taking part in a range of activities outside the classroom, both at home and abroad, all of which offer a different challenge.
We know how important the transition to Senior School is for your son or daughter's education and their personal development. Our dedicated and experienced staff will give your 11 year old the skills and confidence to take them from their first tentative steps in Year 7, to becoming an articulate, confident and resilient young adult ready to face the challenges beyond Derby High School.
We also welcome new students in Years 8, 9 and 10 when places become available. It is always a pleasure to watch new students settling in quickly to our supportive community and making the most of the many opportunities available.

The Sixth Form at Derby High lights up a world of new opportunities, both intellectual and personal. It’s why so many students describe the final two years at Derby High as their very best. You will receive outstanding teaching, achieve exceptional A Level results, and quickly feel at home in a place that’s buzzing with activity and fun. Our Sixth Form is open to new students from local state and independent schools.
We would encourage you to arrange a tour of the school by our Head, Mrs Amy Chapman, so that you can fully appreciate what we have to offer. Please contact Miss Sue Callaghan, our Registrar, for further information about our admissions process.
