Primary High Notes 1st May
We have been hugely impressed with the outstanding work being submitted to teachers, showing a tremendous academic curiosity and love of learning. Please keep sending in photos and videos of what you are doing!
I loved the Tweets this week from the Maths Department about their “virtual” trip to Bletchley Park. It made me (almost) feel we were actually there! I particularly enjoyed the inevitable visit to the Gift Shop. It was lovely to receive a response from Bletchley Park thanking us for our visit and hoping to see us again soon!
For those of you who are fans of Star Wars, Monday is a special day. If any of you are planning to do, or create, anything special to celebrate, please let us know.
PSHE Challenge Week 2
This week Dr E-B’s PSHE challenge was titled “Every Object Tells a Story”. Click here to watch the challenge set by Dr E-B on YouTube.
Thank you to all the pupils who have already sent in their fantastic entries. It’s been lovely to watch and read which items are important and why. Miss Bailey also took on the challenge and made a recording of her favourite objects at home. Click here to watch Miss Bailey.
Year 3 Sunflowers
Year 3 have been studying plants in science, Vincent van Gogh in art and growing sunflower seeds from Mrs Chapman and Chaplain Jo. Here’s some of their fantastic sunflower art work. To view the full gallery on the school web site click here.
Year 6 Island Project
Year 6 have been working on their own island creations and researching another island for a topic project. Here’s some wonderful examples of their work. Joy included her interest in Japanese writing to complement her work with script, and Jessica researched Barbados.
Young Geographer of the Year Competition Y3 – Y6
The Geography Association have a ‘Young Geographer of the Year’ competition, with the focus this year being ‘The World Beyond my Window’. We would love for our Derby High junior pupils to enter this as a school. Entries must explore the human and physical geography of places that exist beyond their windows, locally or further afield. All entries must be produced on an A3 size sheet. This can be hand-made (then sent in electronically via a scanned copy or photograph) or using PowerPoint, word, publisher or PDF, etc and emailed to Miss Bailey – email@example.com
Year 3 to Year 6 Feedback Survey
Today pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 have received a link, via their teaching group in Teams, to a very short survey. We are interested in their experiences of remote learning and how they are finding it. Please encourage your child to complete this survey (if they have not done so already) and remind them there is no right or wrong answer. Thank you very much for your support.
