Primary High Notes 15th Nov

Primary High Notes 15th Nov

In Primary assembly this week, I shared a song from my all-time favourite band, Boyzone. I used the lyrics from Words to illustrate the power of words and the importance of being kind and thoughtful in what you say, a particularly important message during Anti-Bullying week:

“You think that I don't even mean a single word I say. It's only words and words are all I have to take your heart away.”

We are very much looking forward to our annual Christmas Fair which this year takes place on Saturday 23rd November between 11am and 3pm. We have an array of amazing local independent businesses displaying their products. Do come along and enjoy the festive atmosphere with wonderful refreshments and even Santa will be in attendance.

Best wishes,

REMEMBRANCE

Wrens have made poppies in class as part of their age appropriate Remembrance Day lesson, where they watched an age appropriate animation.  The children then wore their poppies to the Remembrance service in school and looked very smart indeed!

 CHOCOLATE SPARKLERS!

Everyone had lots of fun making chocolate sparklers this week in the Robins!

THE TOYS’ PARTY

Wrens acted out The Toys' Party - which involved making a birthday cake from ingredients like cornflakes, baked beans and jam!

Y4 GREEK DAY

Year 4 had an amazing Ancient Greek day! They had a fashion show, a bake off, learnt all about the Olympic games and the order they happened in. They raced chariots that the children built in their DT lessons and then ended the day with some food tasting and a banquet which included the delicacies they made that morning!

Y3/4 FOOTBALL

Wednesday afternoon saw our first football fixture of the year kick off with our Y3/4 football team hosting a team from Old Vicarage School. The game was a close encounter between two evenly matched teams. This was the first competitive football match some of the children had ever been involved in and they battled well playing some excellent football. Derby High came out victorious, winning 7 - 4 with goals from Rory (3), Adi (2), Khyan and AJ. A stand out all round performance and incredible assist for our 6th goal ensured that AJ was named player of the match! A special mention must also go to goalkeeper, Jacob, who produced a number of fine saves throughout the match and had an extremely accomplished game with the ball at his feet, alleviating a lot of pressure off the defence.

Well done to everyone in our team: Rory (Captain), Adi, Jai, Khyan, AJ, Josh, Jacob, Zen, Aarav, Jakey and Hamdan.
