Primary High Notes 26th March 2021

The past three weeks back have provided us all with a degree of normality, albeit with a variety of restrictions in place, and the pupils have all responded amazingly. We can also feel positivity for the future – not only to deliver the best education possible in the safest way possible, but also to ensure that Derby High School comes back even stronger than ever after the enforced period of remote learning, with a re-doubled sense of the vital purpose of education and a commitment to achieving our individual academic and personal potential.

There is nothing quite like a smile to make you feel good. In my live assembly on Thursday we all shared our best and biggest smiles. Combine a Tinkerbell quote, a duet from Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston and a song from the Shrek movie and you have my Senior assembly this week! The important message behind all of this was that when you believe in yourself, what seems impossible might just be possible. It’s now three years since Derby High, an independent coeducational day school with 540 students, announced that it was welcoming boys into the Senior School, after 125 years of educating girls only from the age of 11.
