On a damp and dark Wednesday morning, it was thought the Junior Sports Day would have to take place inside. Fortuitously, the weather perked up, the field dried off and the pupils of the Junior School took to the field (hooray!) for the annual Junior Sports Day! Pupils had completed their field events and lap race on the Monday morning and, for this event, had signed up for various races including sprinting, dress up, potato, obstacle, egg and spoon.
The pupils completed their races with fantastic effort and determination to get on the podium and score points for their houses, after lots of practise in their PE lessons. It was an amazing afternoon and both relay races at the close of the event were very tight, right to the end, and a brilliant crowd of parents and supporters made the event all the more special for all the children taking part.
At the end of the afternoon, the prestigious Sports Day trophy was awarded to St George by Mrs Chapman, only 9 points ahead of St David – with a winning total of 129 points! St David scored 120 points, St Patrick came 3rd with 86 points and St Andrew came 4th with 62 points!
Thank you to all of the PE staff, the junior school staff and Year 9 students who assisted with the event, and to all of the children and parents who were fantastic on the day!BACK
