After seven weeks of tennis trials and practices, the afternoon of June 26th, the House Tennis competition day finally arrived.
There was no sign of rain and although the sun didn’t shine, the tennis certainly did.
In the first round St David’s team romped to a three love lead, though two of the matches were decided by a single game. Meanwhile St George versus St Patrick’s matches ended in a draw. St David emerged the overall winners by continuing their success beating both the other teams, with only one of their pairs dropping a match. St George was the runner up with St Patrick and St Andrew close behind.
It was rewarding to watch the inexperienced, nervous players blossom as the afternoon progressed as well as admire the already accomplished tennis players. All the competitors should be congratulated on their ability to encourage their partners and work together as a team.BACK
