City Sports 2019

It was a very exciting day yesterday for our top Year 7 track and field athletes as they went to Moorways Stadium to compete in the City Sports Championships. The students were competing against athletes from 16 other schools in the area, so the competition was really tough!

Millie was first to compete and performed brilliantly in the hot temperature, in the 1500m. She secured a third place on the podium – fantastic! Next to go in quick succession were Priya and Elsie in the 100m and 200m heats. They both made it through to the final which was amazing and then Elsie finished 5th in the final and Priya came third. Louisa battled well in the 800m when it was extremely hot and finished in 6th place  - a great result.

In the field events Diya was up against some very strong competition in the shot putt but her second throw went over 6 metres and she was crowned the champion! Isabelle was also on top form in the javelin and the opposition were no match for her as she threw nearly 13 metres to win the event. Daisy had a few issues with her run up in the long jump but still achieved a 6th place and Shaan had some very tall competitors against her in the high jump but finished in a good 7th place.

The last event was the relay and Su, Millie, Daisy and Priya sprinted to a fantastic 2nd place. An awesome result!!! Well done U3 and thank you to Mary who was also our reserve.

Year 9's Annabelle also attended City Sports as an individual and had a fabulous run in the 1500m. She finished second in a time of 3.16! Superb!
